eClinicalWorks integration

Remote care management for eClinicalWorks practices

HealthArc runs remote patient monitoring, chronic care management and seven more CMS programs for practices and health centers on eClinicalWorks. Patient data comes in through eCW’s FHIR APIs, and your care team works from one login.

About the partnership

HealthArc and eClinicalWorks

eClinicalWorks is an ambulatory EHR and practice management system used by independent practices, multi-site groups and community health centers.

HealthArc connects as an eCW Backend Services app. Your eCW administrator turns on FHIR APIs, adds the HealthArc app with an activation code from our team, and activates it once we approve the request. Organizations that need population-level data can add bulk FHIR access using patient groups in eCW.

What it does

What HealthArc does for eClinicalWorks users

Find eligible patients from the chart

Diagnoses, insurance and visit history from eClinicalWorks feed HealthArc’s eligibility screening, so your team starts with a list of patients who qualify for CCM, RPM or APCM instead of a manual chart review.

Documentation your providers can see

Monthly care-management summaries and time logs are produced for every enrolled patient. Where your eCW setup allows write-back, notes go back to the chart; otherwise your team files them from HealthArc.

Device readings with clinical context

Readings from 40+ connected devices sit next to the patient’s problem list and medications, so a high blood pressure alert is read against the full chart.

Billing-ready records every month

HealthArc tracks time and device days against each CPT and HCPCS code and produces a monthly billing record for every patient and program.

One connection, nine programs

The same connection serves RPM, CCM, APCM, PCM, RTM, BHI, TCM, MTM and PIN. Adding a program later doesn’t mean a new integration project.

HIPAA compliant and SOC 2 compliant

Data moves between eClinicalWorks and HealthArc under a business associate agreement, encrypted in transit and at rest.

What HealthArc does with that data

Diagnoses, medications and readings from eClinicalWorks feed HealthArc’s AI-assisted care pathways, which queue the next task for your care team. The medical scribe then drafts the program note and suggests CPT codes for a clinician to review and sign.

Programs

Programs you can run alongside eClinicalWorks

One eClinicalWorks connection serves all nine. Most practices start with CCM or RPM and add programs once the first one is running.

FAQ

eClinicalWorks and HealthArc: common questions

Does HealthArc integrate with eClinicalWorks?

Yes. HealthArc connects to eClinicalWorks through eCW’s FHIR APIs as a Backend Services app. Your eCW administrator activates FHIR APIs and the HealthArc app, and our team completes the rest of the setup.

Which care-management programs can I run with eClinicalWorks and HealthArc?

All nine programs HealthArc supports: Remote Patient Monitoring, Chronic Care Management, Advanced Primary Care Management, Principal Care Management, Remote Therapeutic Monitoring, Behavioral Health Integration, Transitional Care Management, Medication Therapy Management and Principal Illness Navigation.

Do we need to open a ticket with eClinicalWorks?

Usually not. The setup is done by your eCW administrator in Admin → Product Activation: turn on FHIR APIs, add the HealthArc app with the activation code we provide, and activate it after we approve the request.

Can HealthArc pull data for our whole population?

Yes, with bulk FHIR access. You create patient groups (cohorts) in eCW for the population you want synced, and HealthArc uses them for bulk data access. We send separate instructions for setting up those groups.

How long does an eClinicalWorks integration take?

The authorization steps take minutes once your administrator has access. Mapping, testing and training follow, and most practices go live in about 30 days.
